On June 25, 2025, AMPLIFY! hosted “AMP UP! Fight Fire with Fire!” – a dynamic training on leveraging social marketing to improve health outcomes among Black smokers, presented by Y’Lonn Burris, AMPLIFY!, and LaTroya Hester of Comms Noire.
The training focused on social marketing and stakeholder marketing strategies, covering foundational marketing concepts, communication approaches, and their applications to tobacco prevention efforts. LaTroya provided comprehensive coverage of marketing principles and communication strategies, emphasizing the importance of cultural resonance and tailoring messages to specific audiences. The session concluded with discussions on using comedy and social media to engage communities of color, highlighting the effectiveness of trusted messengers and comprehensive approaches to promoting health initiatives.
